Who Am I?

Hello, I’m William. I’m curious about whatever might bring you to consider therapy, and working with you to untangle the issues you face.

Growing up, and as a young adult I didn’t have the tools I needed to understand myself, my emotions, or how to handle the issues I encountered. Therapy got me back on track. Now, I have the joy and privilege of offering others the support that got me through my hardest times.

I work humanistically, this is a style of talking therapy I’m trained in. Essentially this means I believe you are the expert on you, and my job is to understand what makes you ‘you’ as much as possible, from a holistic perspective. In your sessions we will work in numerous ways together to support you to unlock the issues you face.

We will work towards you feeling capable to deal with those issues without me, in your own way.

I believe everyone should understand how to feel OK. Below is a list of common issues I work with, and I am open to meeting anyone. I have a particular passion for men’s mental health, male identity, & work around masculinity regardless of your biological sex or gender.

Summing up what I work with or the issues you face in a list will not represent the reality of you or me.

But, as a general reference, I work with:

Anxiety, Depression,

Identity issues, Men’s issues, Masculinity issues, Gender issues, Sexuality,

Bereavement, Health related issues, Loss,

Personal development, Relationships, Self esteem,

Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Work related issues

If you see yourself in this list, I would welcome hearing from you.

What to expect

How do I work?

Therapy is unique to each person, and how I work will change in response to you. This means it’s hard to define exactly how I work.

However, my attention to curiosity and compassion can support the expansion of your awareness and hold adversity and challenges with the care it requires. Once we build a relationship, and if it feels right, I may offer ideas or experiments, or appropriate challenge to help integrate the work into your daily life and facilitate bold discoveries.

I want to make sure you get the most out of your time with me, and part of my process includes understanding how you would like to work.

My Accreditation & Training

It is important to know the credentials of any mental health professional. I am an MBACP Member, and I trained in a foundation of Humanistic theory at The Gestalt Centre (London, UK) before continuing and completing my BSc in Humanistic Counselling at The Metanoia Institute (London, UK). I currently have a total of four years of university level training in counselling, and many more hours and days of CPD in various issues in mental health.

As a BACP member, I am continually reading, researching, and training in the latest techniques to support my clients. I also receive clinical supervision as part of my requirements to uphold my standards of counselling.

As an industry, we have a responsibility to the people we work with to maintain rigorous standards of ethical responsibility. If you have a concern or complaint about me, I welcome you to flag it with me if you feel comfortable to have a discussion with me about it. If you would prefer, you can visit the BACP’s website, my regulator, to let them know.
